Principal's Newsletter for December 2017

December 2017

Dear Holy Angels Catholic School Parents and Guardians,

Very soon, we will be celebrating the holy season of Advent in a wonderful way again this year.  The students will gather in the hallway around a Jesse Tree to pray the special prayers that give honor to the ancestry of Jesus. An Advent Wreath is placed on the prayer tables in all of our classrooms.  We will prepare our students prayerfully each day for the celebration of the birth of our Savior. The church teaches us that Advent is a time of preparation, a time to wait quietly and prayerfully for the coming of Jesus.  I hope that your child enjoys our Advent prayers.  Happy Advent to you and yours!

Thank you for contributing to our canned food drives each month this school year.  St. Bernardine Church and St. Benedict Church have fed many hungry people because of your generosity.  Your child can bring in a canned food item any day, place it prayerfully in the food basket for the poor, and make that offering to Jesus. What a beautiful lesson to teach our children, especially in Advent. We really are people for others. Thank you for your generosity!

May your Advent time of prayerful waiting bring you holy peace.  Happy Advent, Merry Christmas, and happy, healthy New Year to you!

Report Cards for Trimester 1

The school year is one third complete!  You will receive your child’s first Report Card on Wednesday, December 6th.  Please look in your child’s purple Wednesday Folder for it.  Regretfully, if you have a debt to Holy Angels Catholic School, your child’s Report Card will be held in the office until the debt has been satisfied.  Your tuition payments must be paid through the November payment.  Payments for World’s Finest Chocolate, Claire’s Gourmet, Child Nutrition Lunch Program, CYO Basketball (if your child is playing), and FF&G (if your child attends) must be made as well.  Check your financial records.  If you have a debt, please take care of it with Mrs. Martin in our front office.  Your timely payments are expected and very much appreciated. Thank you so much.

Inclement Weather

Please listen to WBAL radio and/or TV for any announcements about school closing, late opening, or early closing due to bad weather.  We follow BALTIMORE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS for weather related emergencies.  You will not receive an electronic notification if school opens late or is closed due to inclement weather.

If we have our own building emergency (no water, electricity, etc), you will hear “Holy Angels Catholic School” by name on WBAL.  Updates about site-emergency closings will also be posted on our Holy Angels Catholic School website and sent to you via our Electronic Notification System.  PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE SCHOOL OFFICE to confirm what you have heard.  We cannot field all of the calls, and the hang-ups clog our voice mailbox.  We really appreciate your cooperation in this matter.

Holy Angels Catholic School Uniform

Please put your child’s name in all of the pieces of the school uniform and in the winter hats, gloves, and scarves, too.  Too many items are left behind and not returned to the owner because a name isn’t on it.

If the weather warrants boots, your child may wear them to school and carry the school shoe to wear in the building.  Children do not wear boots in school.  Our school uniform will not change because of the weather.  I promise.
