Principal's Newsletter for December 2014

Dear Holy Angels Catholic School Parents and Guardians,

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! But first, we are celebrating the holy season of Advent in a wonderful way at Holy Angels Catholic School. The students will gather in the hallway around a Jesse Tree to pray the special prayers that give honor to the ancestry of Jesus. An Advent Wreath is placed on the prayer tables in all of our classrooms. We will prepare our students prayerfully each day for the celebration of the birth of our Savior. The church teaches us that Advent is a time of preparation, a time to wait quietly for the coming of Jesus. Happy Advent!

Thank you so much for contributing to our blanket collection in November. We donated thirty blankets to the homeless on November 21st! We will continue our collection of canned food items through December 16th. The food pantry at St. Benedict Church on Wilkens Avenue is in great need of our help. They will receive our donated food items and make Christmas dinner baskets. Please be as generous as possible. Your child can bring in a canned food item any day, place it prayerfully in the food basket for the poor, and make that offering to Jesus. What a beautiful lesson to teach our children, especially in Advent!

I hope you received the Advent Prayer Book that Monsignor Bozzelli, pastor of St. Bernardine Catholic Church, gave to all of us. I hope you find it helpful. May your Advent time of prayerful waiting bring you peace. Happy Advent, Merry Christmas, and happy, healthy New Year.
